Difficulty Keeping Mice, Rats & Squirrels Out

What Rodent Control Includes

The rodent control process includes many things. We at Cascade Pest Control believe in starting with preemptive and proactive steps to stop pests or rodents from getting inside your home or business in the first place.

Our goal is to prevent the type of invasive procedures shown in this video. Mice, rats, and even squirrels or other invasive rodents are professionals at finding their way into tight spaces and gaps in your space’s structure. It can be difficult for a technician to access these points of entry, as you can see from our manager Kris’ experience getting under the deck on this site. Thankfully, it hadn’t rained recently or cold outside to further complicate the process.

Once beneath the deck, he identifies a spot where a stove pipe hadn’t been properly secured, or had fallen into mild disrepair overtime, and left a gap in the house’s exterior wall. Gaps like this are not uncommon, and they can occur in places where siding has been misaligned, vents have broken, or around electrical or plumbing installation points. All are easy targets for common household rodents and pests to invade your home.

While small holes in obscure places of your structure may seem like low order concerns, rodents have soft skeletons that bend and compress and allow them to squeeze through very small openings. Younger rats and squirrels only need a hole the size of a quarter, and mice only need the width of a pencil to gain entry. Not only this, but their keen ability to gnaw and chew a larger opening for themselves further allows them to make their own access to sensitive areas of your home or business.
