Dead rodent removal and removal of other dead animals
- Horrible stench!
- Disgusting carcass
- Unsanitary contamination
- Associated fly and maggot problems
It's a difficult and sometimes disgusting job that we're willing to do:
The Problem
Dead rats and other animals
Rats naturally die near where they've been living. And if they've been living in your attic or walls or beneath your floor, sooner or later that's where they will die. Unfortunately, this process is exaggerated by the use of poisons indoors to control rats, leaving them dead within the house. Other animals also die inside homes - squirrels, mice, birds, opossums, raccoons, and more. Whatever the animal, whatever the cause, it's a mess.
Horrible odor
The odor from a dead rat or other animal is repulsive and calls for fast action. Unfortunately, by the time you smell it, the problem is already in an advanced stage, in a place that may be hard to pinpoint, and represents some nasty sanitation problems.
Unsanitary mess and disease-spreading flies
Decaying rat carcasses emit fluids and attract flies, their maggots, and other insects. The area must be cleaned and disinfected, and may require insect control.
The Cascade Pest Control Solution
- Find them – Rats often die in hard-to-reach locations. We frequently get calls about a dead-animal odor that is dreadfully strong and driving people out of their home. But because rats crawl in attics and wall voids and under floors, they usually die out of sight and out of reach. Sometimes they die in drop ceilings, deep inside cabinetry, or inside large appliances. Locating them by smell can be a difficult process, but our experience, understanding of their habits, and our tenacity pay off.
- Remove them – Sometimes it's just a matter of crawling under the house and scooping up the carcass for removal. But it can sometimes mean cutting a hole in the sheetrock to retrieve them from within a wall void. It can be hard and unpleasant work - and sometimes requires repair of the wall or ceiling after the mess is removed.
- Clean, disinfect, deodorize, and control flies – The awful smell lingers after the carcass is removed because decay fluids seep onto surfaces and into porous materials. The surfaces and surrounding area must be cleaned, and then a disinfectant must be applied. Next comes a deodorant designed to neutralize organic odors. Finally, when needed, we apply an appropriate insecticide to stop the breeding and spreading of flies and maggots.
